PREGNANT MLA THRASHED BY PUBLIC

The Friday night of Karimganj wittness another incident of public violence and increasing inhumanities of the people. Dr. Rumi Nath(30) the much controversial congress MLA from Borkhola constituency was being attacked and injured severely by a mob at hotel Nakshatra of Karimganj where she was residing. The controversy broke after her second marriage with Mr. Jacky Zakie, a muslim guy from Karimganj.

Eventually after her marriage with someone from the Muslim community, Rumi Nath emerged as one of the most controversial figure in Assam politics. After, absconding from her constituency for months after her marriage, yesterday(29/06/2012), she finally reached Karimganj to take a call on the flood victims and relief measures undertaken. The Karimganj Superintendent of Police Mr. Diganta Baruah, warned her not to come to Barak Valley as the situation in the area was still tensed because of her second marriage and many organisation like BJP and other Hindu organisations had been protesting against her alleged second marriage with Jacky Zakie. Still, she went to her constituency despite of the warning. Moreover, she fanned the fire when she was got involved in a verbal fight with a lady while addressing a meeting in her constituency, yesterday.

It was around 8pm when a mob of around 40 people gathered and gheraoed hotel Nakshatra where she was residing with her second husband Jacky Zakie and asked her to come out, but when the crowd grew huge they forcefully entered the hotel and eventually their room by breaking the door and started physically assaulting them. Even though the security personnel of Rumi Nath, tried to stop the mob but they too failed as the crowd was huge. Television images clearly showed how Jacky Zakie's nose and mouth was bleeding(in the picture). It was clearly seen the people STEPPING AND KICKING the abdominal and stomach area of Rumi Nath, who is a PREGNANT lady. Such acts by the public clearly show that only the life style of people have developed, not their mentally. Who gave people the right to take law into their hands??? Who are they decide the right and wrong?? Who are they to impose punishment on somebody??? Another shameful phase of this incident is that, not a single lady was present in the mob and footage clearly showed how the men were physically assaulting Dr. Rumi Nath!!! Such acts by the people of Barak Valley have yet again proved why, we the people of Assam are addressed as 'jungli' by the outsiders.

Well certain facts really worries me a lot. The S.P. of Karimganj Mr. Diganta Baruah, warned Rumi Nath that some unavoidable incident might take place, so why Mr. Baruah didn't provide her with adequate security. Another fact which cannot be overlooked is that the attack on Rumi Nath, had come just two days after another minister from Barak Valley Mr. Gautam Roy, made a very unconstitutional and irresponsible remark publicly that,"A Muslim person who marries a Hindu, his/her hands and legs should be broken and the same should be done with the Hindu person if he/she marries someone from the Hindu community." Such remarks by Gautam Roy and just two days after that a mob attacking Rumi Nath and Jacky Zakie, indicates something mysterious.

I am neither supporting Dr. Rumi Nath nor am I trying to allege anybody for the incident. Being someone from the media fraternity, I have just tried to put forward my views. But, I also strongly condemn such unlawful acts by the public harsh words.

Lastly, I would like to put a question for all the readers. Dr. Rumi Nath, was an MLA from the rulling congress party, but despite of this the govt. and the administration failed to provide her with sufficient security. Her life is in threat. So, can we the common people think ourselves to be safe???
Think about it.

DOES THE GOVT. REALLY VALUES HUMAN LIFE

Even after the directive of the Hon’ble Supreme Court that came on Feb 2010, which asked all the Chief Secretaries to cover up all the abandoned bore wells and drains in all states, the govt. continues to play with the lives of the common people. In a country like India where, everyone is raising slogans related to protection of child rights and Right to Education, Mahi a 5-years old girl from Haryana battles for life as she fell on a 75 feet deep bore well. She has been trapped there for 45 hours now. The saddest part of the incident is that she had celebrated her birthday being trapped inside the bore well.

This clearly shows that neither the govt. nor the civic authoritied have learnt any lesson form the incident that took place on 2006, where a small boy named Prince had to undergo the similar pain as Mahi after he fell on an abandoned bore well, but thankfully he was saved. It’s very much unfortunate that, the more India is developing less has been the value of the lives of the common people. Also the indifferences towards common people have been continuously increasing and this fact is completely true because the police reached the spot 9 hours after the incident took place. Moreover the army was being called 20 hours later, drilling machine was started 19 hours after the incident. Another, shameful thing is that three more such open bore wells  were present around a radius of 25metres from the one where Mahi had fallen, but it was soon covered after the arrival of the media.

So, now the question is would the rescue operations have been the same if, instead of Mahi the son/daughter of a bureaucrat or a politician have fallen in the bore well????
A person on a social networking site rightly said that, if this would have  happened with the child of a bureaucrat or politician, the matter would have till now reached the parliament.
Infact, I feel that this matter would have been solved immediately if this would have been the time of elections. This clearly shows the sheer indifference on the part of the govt. towards common people.

News footage clearly showed how the police and other officials of the administration were sitting in chairs and having tea as if they were enjoying a movie or a circus. Is this how they are going to give service to the nation and work for the common people???
The govt. and the administration should be ashamed of themselves and if they are not, then we the common people should start a movement to embarrass them. While talking to the media persons the District Magistrate(DM), was giving a detailed of their work. I think that the Haryana govt should have immediately taken action against the DM because even after the Hon’ble  Supreme Court’s directive, it was being violated.

At this point of time when little Mahi is battling for her life. We all can just keep our fingers crossed for the innocent soul-Mahi so that rescue operations gets successful and she comes out safe and begins to enjoy her life.

NEED OF A PROPER BEHAVIORAL TRAINING FOR THE ASSAM GOVT. OFFICIALS

7/6/2012

Today (7-06-2012) while watching the mid-day news of an Assamese news channel, a news item compelled me to raise this topic and put forward my views.
The incident is of Geleki, Sivasagar, Assam, where a District Forrest Officer(DFO) was shown physically assaulting a manager of a tea cultivation land, while evicting that area, which was said to forest land. I don't really want to comment regarding the land possession, as I am in lack of information regarding that. But, by question here is does such type of behavior acceptable, by a govt. official belonging to such a high rank??? This is not my question, I guess the whole of Assam and even people residing out of Assam too, will be asking this question. The DFO, was aware of the press personnel present there with cameras, still he carried on with such kind of behavior. Footage clearly showed, how he snatched one of the forest guard's service rifle and threatened to kill the manager, by pointing it towards him.

With this, comes the need for implementation of a proper behavioral training for all the govt. officials. Whenever we visit a govt. office, we always have to face the ill-treatment and misbehaviour of the officials present there, be it a clerk or a high rank officer,I guess we all are aware of it and many of us have already faced it.
So, I feel that along with departmental and official training, the govt. should also start to train its officials regarding proper behavior and manners. They should be taught about good manners, how to talk with elders, how to behave with women and ofcourse, the proper utilization of time (which is very much lacking).  Though, I may sound very witty talking about these things and these things seem to be very useless and amusing, but by looking at the condition of our govt. offices and officials, I strongly fell that, there is a need to implement these kind of lessons.

With the inclusion of such topics and trainings we can bring a development and progress in our govt. departments to a large extent.

The above stated views are completely my personal and I apologize if I have unknowingly hurt anybody's sentiment.
